100 Kwong Wah Yit Poh Round Island 2010 Cycling
On 26 September 2010, Engtek had participated in the round island cycling organised by Kwong Wah Yit Poh (KWYP). Through this participation, Engtek wants to promote healthy body healthy mind among Engtekkers besides playing its social responsibility role for the community. The ride is one of the serial events organised by KWYP, in conjunction with the celebration of its 100th anniversary.
Engtek Community Services had sponsored RM10,000 towards this charitable event. Our Executive Chairman, Dato' Gillian Teh also helped in raising Kwong Wah Yit Poh's charitable fund. Sponsored bicycles were donated to St. John as part of the charitable work.
The 100 KWYP Round Island Ride kicked off as early as 7 in the morning at Youth Park, Penang. KWYP took lead in responding to the green campaign-together they cycle round the town, admiring the scenic views through a 100km route. There was also a special Celebrity Ride where local celebrities and government officials cycled through a 10km route. The Right Honourable Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Tuan Lim Guan Eng flagged off the Celebrity ride at 8am. More than 10 Engtekkers and their immediate families took part in this event, with most registered for the 10km ride. Our Executive Chairman, Dato' Gillian Teh and CEO, Dato' Teh Yong Khoon also joined the fun. Equipped with determination and stamina, Engtekkers managed to complete the 10km ride within 35 minutes and the 100km ride within 5 hours.
Participants were given certificate of appreciation, t-shirt, lunch and a chance at the lucky draw. Participants of the 100 KWYP Round Island Ride who had completed the ride within 5 hours were also given limited edition medal. It was a tiring day for everyone but it ended with great satisfaction, knowing Engtekkers had successfully committed themselves in balancing a healthy work-life.
